Brief Note on the Employment Sector
Activities :
Mobile registration is conducted for the
unemployed youths of these areas, which
are very remote from the head quarters.
This programme immensely help the job seekers
in getting their names registered/renewed.
Career information is very important for
the students of schools and colleges. For
the purpose career talk may be conducted
in various educational institutions and
materials of career information may be supplied
to them.
Vocational Guidance Programme may also be
conducted in different locations of the
area. It helps to motivate the educated
unemployed youths towards self-employment.

Brief Note on the Labour Sector Activities
:
The Labour Deptt. is one of the important
deptt. of BTC which is a transfered subject.
This department generally works under the
various labour laws for the welfare and protection
of the Right of labourers in the BTC area.
There are 43 odd labour laws of which a few
Acts are generally implemented regularly such
as the Minimum Wages Act, 1948. The child
labour (P & R) Act, 1986, The Plantation
Labour Act, 1951, The Motor Transport Workers
Act, 1961, The Contract Labour (R & A)
Act, 1970, The Payment of Bonus Act, 1965
The Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972 and the
Shops and Establishment Act, 1971, Equal Remuneration
Act, 1976, I/D Act, 1947, The Payment of Wages
Act, 1936 etc.
The BTC Labour deptt. had undertaken some
programme/scheme for welfare and protection
of the Workers Right for the year 2005-2006
under the Child Labour Act, 1986, the Plantation
Labour Act, 1951 and the M/W Act, 1948 (20
point programme). The deptt. is also holding
some awareness programme at different places
of the BTC area for awareness generation
among the labourers.

(C) Brief Note on the ITI and Craftsmen
Training Sector :
ITI & Craftsmen is one of the most important
institution for short-term technical training
to the young entrepereneurs to overcome
shortage of professional engineering workers.
It helps young entrepreneurs to seek the
means of livelihood in any factory/ industry
including private sector. There are only
three ITIs in BTC area with limited trades
for undergoing training. Trades, whiche
are more useful to day-to-day life to the
human societies should be introduced in
all those institutes.
During the year 2005-06 an amount of Rs.
6.50 lakhs only was earmarked to the ITI
& Craftsmen Training for improvement/construction
of building, purchase of equipments etc.
including construction works at ITI (W)
Mazbat the amount was not at all sufficient
to meet the expenditure including payment
of remuneration of hired instructors etc.
This has been fully utilised. The Kokrajhar
ITI has been selected as one of the centres
of excellence by the Govt. of India.
