LAND AND LAND REVENUE DEPARTMENT
 

The Land & Land Revenue Department is one of the entrusted subjects of BTC under amended Sixth Schedule to Constitution of India to safe-guard the identity of the people living in BTC. The creation of BTC has bifurcated many Revenue Circles and Mouzas, which requires reorganisation. BTC authority during its interim period engaged an expert for the work of reorganisation of Revenue Circles and Mouzas in the Council area. The Land & Land Revenue Department has completed the exercise in this regard in the official level and is now in advanced stage of finalisation. The Land & Land Revenue Department is the department which ventured for in collecting land revenue from the landholders of BTC area. In order to achieve and provide smooth administration of the department, BTC have been trying to develop infrastructure of Revenue Circle offices and Tahsils. The Annual Plan Fund of Land & Land Revenue Department is Rs. 159·00 lakhs for the year 2005-06. Besides, plan fund, the annual demand of Land Revenue is 199·00 crore.

The department has earmarked fund for repairing/renovations of infrastructure i.e. Circle Office building of Udalguri, Kokrajhar, Goreswar, Sidli, Gossaigaon-Bhaoraguri, Dotma etc. for Rs. 1,32,61,560·00 (Rupees one crore thirty two lakhs sixty one thousand five hundred and sixty).

The department has also constructed three-storeyed RCC building for Director of Land Records of BTC at the cost of Rs. 1,05,59,000·00 (Rupees one crore five lakhs fifty nine thousand) at Kokrajhar under plan fund of 2005-06. Moreover construction of Revenure Circle Officers’ Quarter at Mazbat and re-construction of Revenure Circle Office at Gossaigaon have been completed. The Land & Land Revenue Department is planning to computerised the Land Records of BTC area.
