THE ORANG NATIONAL PARK

The Orang National Park is popularly known as Mini Kaziranga. It was declared as a Game Reserve in 1915 and proposed for Wildlife Sanctuary in 1985. It was declared a Wildlife Sanctuary in 1998 and National Park in 1999.

The Orang National Park is in complete contrast to the above landscape, situated on the Northern Bank of the Brahmaputra. The landscape consists of Brahmaputra valley alluvial grassland and oxbow lake. The biological attributes of the park that includes Tiger, One Homed Rhino, Avifauna of Wetlands, and Bengal Florican attract the visitors worldwide. In this National Park 46 Rhinoceros and 20 Royal Bengal Tigers have been found in the census conducted in 1999.
