RELIEF AND REHABILITATION DEPARTMENT, BTC

Though the Relief and Rehabilitation department is not yet transferred to Bodoland Territorial Council, the Council has been providing Relief to the Camp inmates affected by the ethnic violence out of the Plan Fund received as allocated to the department.

An amount of Rs. 180.00 lakh have been allocated to this department, out of which BTC has provided Plastic Tarpaulin HDFC size 18´×12´ of total 27·10 tons and 16000 nos. of Nylon Mosquito nets to the Relief camp inmates and rehabilitated villagers of Kokrajhar and Chirang Districts during the year 2005-06.

Due to non-receipt of fund from Central and State Govt. no significant relief could be provided to the natural calamity affected victims caused by heavy rainfall, hailstorm, flood, thunderstorm, drought, etc. Only a few measures could be provided through Revenue department.

The State govt. is on active consideration for transfer of Relief and Rehabilitation department to BTC. However, it is expected that on transfer of the subject to BTC better relief measures could be provided to the victims of any kind of disaster.
