RESEARCH AND STUDY

Research on the attributes of Manas have not been substantial; however, the following works were done.
Ecological studies on grassland with reference to the Pygmy Hog, updating of the lists of the Plants, Avifauna, Lepidoptera, Remote Sensing, Primate ecology of the Trachy pithecus geei, socio economic surveys, etc. Recent studies in Manas National Park have identified 650 species of plants; another 50 species have also been found in the same study.

In Orang, the research on the behavioral ecology of the Rhinoceros unicornis Linn has recently concluded. An opportunistic study by an NGO has led to the discovery of a species of frog, C. 0rangens very recently. A recent sighting of pygmy hogs, Sus saIvanius, confirmed the presence of this elusive and smallest wild pig in the world at Bamadi Wild Life Sanctuary. The presence of Slow Loris (Nycticebus coucang) has also been confirmed at Bamadi.
