The Social Welfare Department, BTC, Kokrajhar
has implemented the following schemes in
the BTAD area during 2005-06.
1. Welfare of Physically Handicapped
Person : The following schemes have
been implemented for the upliftment of the
physically handicapped persons :—

Rehabilitation grant
to physically handicapped persons
: A sum of Rs. 12 lakhs have been
earmarked for the scheme and total
1200 Nos. of beneficiaries have
been targeted for award grant
at Rs. 1,000/- per beneficiary. |
| (b) |
Scholarship to physically
handicapped students (Middle and
High School Standard): At Rs.
1200/- per annum as scholarship
is awarded to 80 Nos. of students
under BTAD area who are prosecuting
their studies in different institution
middle and high school standard
and a sum of Rs. 96 thousand has
been earmarked. |

Prosthetic Aid To
Physically Handicapped Persons
: Total 100 nos. beneficiary have
been awarded at Rs. 1000/- per
beneficiary as prosthetic aid
and sum of Rs. 1 lakh has been
earmarked. |

2. Assistance To Registered Active Vol.
Organization : A sum of Rs. 19 lakhs
is awarded to a total of 20 Nos. of registered
vol. Organization who are working in the
field of social activities and awareness
campaign in the BTAD area.
3. Medical Grants To Sick and Infirm
Persons : A total of Rs. 18 lakhs is
awarded to sick and infirm persons of BTAD
area for their medical treatment including
cancer patients and by this scheme 1708
Nos. of beneficiaries are directly benefited.
4. Other Welfare Programmes : A
sum of Rs. 5 lakhs is earmarked for the
scheme. Rs. 1 lakh is paid to all BTAD disable
persons association for observation of National
Disable Day on 21st and 22nd March/06 and
Rs. 2 lakhs is given to each District Social
Welfare Officer Chirang and Odalguri for
implementation of schemes for social mobilization
of polio eradication and strengthening routine
immunization.
5. Nutrition For Children Through Balwadi
Centre : A total Rs. 50,000/- has been
utilized for the existing Balwadi Centre
at Kokrajhar and Bijni for nutrition of
children to age group 3-6 years.
6. Nutrition Programme : 21 nos.
of ICDS projects under BTAD covering 2965
nos. of AWC have been provided nutrition
foods to the children of age group 0-6 years
and pregnant and nursing mothers. This programme
has benefited total 296500 nos of beneficiaries.
Feeding provided to the beneficiaries for
1 (one) month for the year.
7. Construction of Anganwadi Centre
Building : A total of 200 nos. of Anganwadi
centre buildings have been constructed in
different project area of BTC. The Govt.
of Assam Social Welfare Department sanctioned
Rs. 2·50 crore for construction of
the said Anganwadi centre buildings in BTC
for the year 2005-06.
