To tape tourism potential in Bodoland Territorial Area District, several projects have been taken up. The Central Government sanctioned construction of Eco-Tourism at Kokrajhar. The project involves development of recreation centre at Gaurang, which will provide facilities of guest house, cafeteria, public utilities services, etc. under the same project, water sports, amusement park, cafeteria, etc., are also being developed at Diplay about 21 km from Kokrajahr toward south. Construction work at project sites is in progress and is expected to complete during 2006-07.

Tourism Department has entrusted implementation of the project for construction of Bodoland movement cemetery at Debargaon. Total cost of the project is Rs. 496 lakh. Project work at sites is in progress and will be completed by 2007-08.

There is immense possibility of developing tourism along Sankosh-river, which has fast water current, and suitable for adventure tourism like rafting, etc. to start with, Tourism department has construction of Eco-Tourism centre at Srirampur at the estimated cost of Rs. 16 lakh. Additional facilities will be developed over the years along Sankosh river from Jamduar to last point within BTC in the downstream.

Tourist department of the Council is taking construction of Gaurang park at the bank of Gaurang river near Kokrajhar. It is developing into a beautiful recreation site with facilities for boating. The project involves construction of footbridge and development of parking site, public utility facility etc. in the park.

Providing accommodation to the visiting tourist in small town Kokrajhar is a big problem. The number of good quality hotels in town is very few. The Tourism department is constructing a tourist lodge at the estimated cost of Rs. 31 lakh at Kokrajahr town. The project will be completed by 2006-07.

In addition to the above projects, following schemes have also been taken up with the funds sanctioned by the Council.

1.
Development of Suklai deer park-Rs. 6 lakh has been released to the Committee of the park to develop the park.

2.
Construction of recre-ation centre at Mushalpur- Rs. 3 lakh has been released to the Committee of the park to imple-ment the proposed works of the park.
