Livestock population in B.T.C. is composed
of many economically important species of
animals and birds. However taking clue from
the available data on livestock contribution
towards the state economy, which stands
7.7% to net state domestic production as
per 1997-98 report. It can be assume that
livestock sector can play a major role in
building the rural economy of B.T.C.
A. Repairing and Renovation of Veterinary
Infrastructures :
There are 57 numbers of Dispensaries and
49 numbers of F.A.C. in B.T.C. area. But
more than 90% of the service delivery institutions
do not work to their potentiality mainly
for deplorable conditions of buildings and
staff quarters. However, first priority
has been given for repairing and renovation,
reconstructions etc. of these institutions
for the interest of public service.

B. Distribution of Livestock and Birds
under S.H.G. and I.B.S. :
These Schemes are taken for elevation of
rural poverty by self- employment through
Live-stock rearing. There are 171 nos. of
S.H.G. and Co-op. Societies and 169 nos.
of individuals under I.B.S. were benefited.
1. Distribution ceremomny of livestock
and birds was inaugurated by Sjt. Shobharam
Basumatary, Honble E.M., A.H. &
Vety. Deptt., at Titaguri, Kokrajhar on
11/07/05.
2. Dairy farm of Alayaron Co-op. Society,
Balagaon, Kokrajhar :This women co-op.
society has successfully reared the dairy
animals and produces 60 litres of milk (approx.)
per day. There are 4 bighas land under improved
variety fodder cultivation. The present
status of dairy animals are as follows :

C. Mass Free Treatment, Vaccination,
Castration, Caponization and Awareness Camp:
Massive Programmes are taken to cover the
most interior places where the poor villagers
are deprived of getting Vety. services for

D. Training Sponsored by Institute of
Co-operative Management (National Council
for Co-operative training, New Delhi) :
1 (one) number of training in each four
Districts was conducted with four days durations
on Management of Dairy Co-operatives in
collaboration with the A.H. & Vety.
Deptt., BTC.
E. Exhibition :
The department has successfully participated
in the Exhibition programme in connection
with the 44th Annual Conference of Bodo
Sahitya Sabha held at Bijni w.e.f. 3rd to
5th Feb./2005.
F. All Round Development of Panbari
Sheep and Goat Farm, Kokrajhar District
:
There are 315598 numbers of goat population
as per census report 2003 in the B.T.C.
area. These small animals play a great economical
role to the weaker section of the people.
Keeping in view all round development activities
are taken up in respect of raising the parent
stock of Beetal Goats by checking mortality
rate through proper prophylactic measures,
treatments, management and feeding. The
He Goats will be utilized for cross breeding
of local She Goats in the villages in due
course.
The Panbari Sheep and Goat Farm is the only
Govt. Livestock Farm in the B.T.C. area.
